Seriously. The ghost admin can generate work, but not be bothered to monitor the results? Then what is the point in generating work?

well, your like the first, and i really mean it, the first to have darwin in a long time on here....

i don't think that app. has been updated in a long time...

it may be best to not run the autodock work on that computer until we update that app.

eta.... unknown..

Wait, are you serious? I notified everyone about OSX errors earlier:

http://boinc.drugdiscoveryathome.com/forum_thread.php?id=117&nowrap=true#2433

FWIW, I was ignored, and never got a response:

http://boinc.drugdiscoveryathome.com/forum_thread.php?id=117&nowrap=true#2436

So I removed my machines, assuming I was just wasting my time. I will put them back on if something has changed. Let me know.

FYI, the latest batch of tasks fail on OSX, 100%. I recommend pulling the OSX app until it is fixed.

Here are a couple of machines if you want to look:

I had one that was at 136 hours, and only 6% done. I just aborted it.

As for the "No WU should take over 4 hours", I have a bunch of them that are just over 4 hours, and in the 90% complete range. I assume they will complete okay with just a few more minutes of crunching. These are on fairly fast Core2/windows machines. So I think your max estimate may be a bit off.

A question/suggestion: If these really shouldn't be running very long, would it be possible to put an auto-kill function in the app, that would abort the task after (say) 10 hours?

FYI, all the really long running tasks are erroring out after about 60,000 seconds. Here is a sample:

FWIW, I have *no* problem with really long running tasks, so long as they checkpoint.

Increase nstxout, nstvout, and nstxtcout. That will reduce the size of the .trr and .xtc, which are likely the largest files that you will be writing. If you want to decrease the .xtc file even more, specify xtc_grps. If the .log and .edr files get out of hand, adjust nstlog and nstenergy. The -compact flag only affects the .log file, and is set by default.

Wow! I have a 17 of these that failed for the same thing, after running 13-26 hours each. That is about 282 hours of wasted time. So far none have completed successfully. I have another 11 still in progress.
