Message 242 - Posted: 12 May 2009, 10:34:16 UTC

I have following problem on a box:

5/12/2009 12:26:28 PM DrugDiscovery Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
5/12/2009 12:26:28 PM DrugDiscovery Reporting 1915 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
5/12/2009 12:26:53 PM DrugDiscovery Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error

All other boxes in same network are able to upload work. Any suggestions?

I had someone else report that to me as well. I suspect it's the amount of simultaneous reports going on that are saturating the database. Not much you can do about it until things die down.

P.S: It isn't affecting uploads or downloads. You only get those messages on reporting tasks.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one :-)

PS: What's with the huge fonts?

I took the CSS from our drupal page and redirected it to the standard boinc css. Since I'm lazy I have not made any adjustments to the font size but I will do that soon. Ok :-)

No problem on the font size. It just looks a bit odd :-)

But what about the HTTP error? This has been going on for well over 24 hours now. Is the DB load really that high?

Would be kind of nice to get all these completed jobs off my boxen so I can use BOINCview again :)

1800 on one of them, 1200 on another, I think combined is probably > 5000

Everyone with this specific problem, could you please make a cc_config.xml file in your BOINC Data directory and add into it:

<cc_config>
<options>
<http_1_0>1</http_1_0>
</options>
</cc_config>

Then either exit and restart BOINC, or Advanced View->Advanced->Read config file.

If you already have HTTP 1.0 on, try with the line <http_1_0>0</http_1_0>

(There are no lower case L in the code, it's all ones)

can people also tell me what size their sched_request_boinc.drugdiscoveryathome.com.xml file is? It'll be in your BOINC Data directory.

file size is between 766kb and 5.4mb

766KB should be doable... 5.4Mb could pose a serious problem as the maximum that the database can handle is 4MB. But we're looking into that.

If worst comes to worse, I may have to write a how to on editing the client_state.xml file to report work in batches, but hopefully it won't come to that. (too easily to make mistakes in that)

i'm no expert, but may it be that the amount it tries to send and request the server to confirm; is overloading the server and request time out and boinc throws out http internal server error.

i never let mine report more than 900 at a time.

btw, my sched_req. xml file is 66 KB.

may or maynot help but i have 6.6.28 version on both pc that run drug.

what do you guys have....

Not really, the 3618 WUs were run on a Dual core Linux box with runtimes of between 4 and 11 seconds which represents 1.5 to 3 hours crunching time.

The problem seems to have started after the last Wu reported at 4:52am UTC on May 12, there had been no problem before then.

BOINCmgr was reporting results every minute or so, so there was no build up of results waiting to be reported until that time.

Maybe something happened with the server at that time as I am not the only one having this problem.

Jack has adjusted a setting on the server. We're starting low, so do not expect files above 2MB to go through.

But can all of you with sched_request* files of less than or equal to 2MB try to report again, please?

him, if it doesn't get solved in the next day or so go to plan B:

have those who can't upload them, dl 7zip and compress their boinc drug data, and send it to jack.
