Sometimes people ask us about fields of research, which we have chosen: cancer, stem cells and aging. Why have you chosed these fields? Because they sound good and are well known problems? No, because on molecular level these fields are tightly connected with each other. In brief - uncontollred hyperactivation of stem cells leads to cancer conditions in which chemoterapy can't help (cancer stem cells conception)and lost of stem cells activity is one of main causes for tissue degeneration and aging. The proteins which are involved in both these processses are the same, just in one case this is inhibition of them and in other is activation and our strategy is to make compounds for homeostasis and correction to the normal levels of signaling proteins, which can contribute really to a serious number of major diseases (cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis and other).

good explanation.. I term our new phrase "A.C.S.M.S." Aging, Cancer, and Stem Cells using Molecular Simulation / Via Grid Computing. ACSMS should be pronounced ask-ms.

I know here in the U.S.; Embryo Stem Cell research is a hot topic. But over all; if your here reading this, you obliviously are one not to hold progress back b/c of the U.S. Republican "an embryo is a human" statements.

The point is that our research can help not to use embryonic stem cells, but improve qualities of iPS or use adult stem cells.
Embryonic stem cells have several disadvantages too, like high risk of teratoma formation - their prolivferative potential is too high.

Do you know if any of this relates to gliomas? I'm a 5 year survivor of a glioma (brain tumor). Obviously, I'd be very interested in any work pertaining to that.

It's good to see that modern medicine has helped people, and glad your still around, I'll e-mail Andrey for an answer or just point him here.

For sure. Just look in google combinations of Wnt and glioma or Wnt and medulloblastoma. Our partner in this field is cancer stem cells innovation center in Norway:
http://csc.rr-research.no/
in Oslo cancer cluster http://www.oslocancercluster.no/
one of top-20 leading world biotech clusters. I'm going there next week with Jack.
In 1-2 weeks we'll start open beta test. During this test we'll make first screens for potential compounds which will be transfered to biological trials in this center.
