Check your TDCF (Task Duration Correction Factor) first. If it is at 100, this throws off the estimates in a bad way.

You can find this number in BOINC 6.6 and above by opening BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Projects tab->Select DrugDiscovery->Click Properties. Now scroll down on the window that opened. What's the last number?

You can reset the TDCF by resetting the project (which also throws away any work in progress) or if you're comfortable about that and you know how to do it, by manually editing your client_state.xml file.

Edit: oops, wrong project. ;-)

it was set at 9.1400

All the other WU's are normal time just 2 out of the bunch

Should I abort the 2 I do not want to tie up the PC for a 1/2 year

You can abort 1 and if you're inquisitive see how long the other one runs in total.

There gone sorry
I do not play with BOINC settings at all
So what ever it is set at, it comes from the install or your side

Not the Task Duration Correction Factor (TDCF). This is a number that's set and updated in your client. It starts off at 1.000000 and increases or decreases according to the amount of time is estimated to take and actually takes.

This is BOINC's way of learning how long tasks actually take, as the initial estimated time to completion is just that, an estimate. it depends on what project you crunch for and what their applications are to know what a good TDCF is. For Seti it appears to be somewhere between 0.3 and 1.0 for Optimized applications and between 0.5 and 2.0 for non-optimized.

I am not sure yet what the best number is here, but also estimate that you want a maximum of 5.0 to be in the ballpark.

If the TDCF increases beyond that point, you get weird estimates on tasks.
But this can also be caused by a wrong estimate of floating point operations that the task is given. I am looking into that now.

Well I just found another Long WU, one that has been running for 21Hr now at ONLY 3.4%
and has 9,230 Hrs to go, and the due Date is 5/10/2011 @ 18:32:38

Can I ask why you would want to send out a long wu like that

To me I think that is a little risky
If it Errors out and lost that much time even if it was 3 or 4 days
I would be vary pissed and would think twice about working DD

I will Reboot lauren9 and see what is lost from that WU and go from there
