This post is meant to prevent such overload of task with manager, and allow all work to report...
Recently, a couple of Volunteers have had large caches of wu's and are unable to report them... and has been discussed http://boinc.drugdiscoveryathome.com/forum_thread.php?id=31
Boinc Manager can lose contact with the client when you have a lot of tasks on board, that you are trying to show all in the Tasks tab.
One of the causes of the HTTP Internal Server Error message is when Boinc tries to report more tasks than the database can take at once.
Due to a database limitation the scheduler can only accept sched_request_boinc.drugdiscoveryathome.com.xml file sizes that are under 4MB. You who are experiencing this problem, will probably find this file in your Boinc Data directory to be above this size.
Ways to minimize the risk of unable to report is to have a low cache and to manually report every day.
settings like this are effective.
1-1.25 or less(quad) .75 or less(dual core or p4 and under) days of work cache. connect every .1 days
another way to minimize the risk of unable to report is to manually report every day.
When these steps are followed closely, you should not see a problem with reporting tasks.(This method of low cache should also be used in Hydrogen@home if you are also a volunteer of Hydrogen@home)
But, should you not follow this practice of controlling the reports; Ageless, along with Bok have made a how-to-manual for reporting tasks. Follow link for details.
All responsibility of using this method comes on your own shoulders. if something goes wrong, do not blame Ageless or the project.
6.10.1+ have a show active task only option in the task view which can help minimize this problem of overload.
Not such a big deal since the project now restrict max wu's in progress to 25 per core..
